Please note, I was not compensated for this review but was given complimentary pairs of socks. Opinions are my own.
So a fellow Twitter nurse (@angealle) told me about this company that makes cute compression socks. I basically have been wearing hospital brand TED hose for the last four years and they are flimsy, have that annoying hole at the bottom, aren’t super supportive.. oh, and they’re hideous.
So I checked out Nabee Socks online and man, they looked legit.
The guy that started the company is a former ICU RN! Woo hoo! I’m all for nurses (well, everyone else too.. but especially nurses) pursuing their passion in innovative ways. He decided the bedside was not for him but figured out how to make the life of a bedside nurse just a little easier – love it.
I wanted all of them but decided to get the Frau (pink argyle) design.
First impression/visual inspection: They’re much thicker than the ones I already use.. but not like OMG my calves are sweating thick. They look like they’re pretty high quality. No hole at the bottom.. thank gosh! Oh, they are also dog falling asleep in his food bowl cute.
Second impression/trying them on: These bad boys provide SUPPORT. They fit perfectly (I followed their sizing advice on the website). Again, I cannot over emphasize how awesome I look in these. I can’t wait to wear them to work this weekend. I’m not even working today and I’ve only worn them for 10 minutes and my legs feel phenomenal. Also, the black in the design is going to look fantastic with my black Danskos.. just sayin.
Third impression/wearing them for a 12-hour shift: My legs felt awesome after the 12 hour exhausting day. Needless to say, I’m going to get two more pairs so I don’t have to wash them mid-week. They have quickly become the newest staple to my nursey wardrobe. And it is not easy to work into my regular rotation.
Basically, I highly recommend these. They’re all about $30 each but well worth the price. Because of the quality, I believe they will last much, much longer than my flimsy white ones. Therefore, I think they’re worth the investment.
I also think these make great gifts for anyone in the medical field. Stocking stuffer, birthday gift, nursing school graduation gift, etc.
You can order them on their website at nabeesocks.com and tell them Nurse Eye Roll sent ya!
